The Super Falcons of Nigeria and South Africa’s Bayana Bayana will play in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games qualifiers later on Tuesday in a match quickly developing into an African classic.

Pretoria, South Africa, is scheduled to host the second leg of the final round of qualification for the Olympics.

Nigeria had a slight advantage going into the game because they defeated Banyana Banyana 1-0 in the first leg of the contest, which was played in Abuja a few days ago. That evening, Coach Randy Waldrum’s girls took a stride towards securing a ticket to the Paris Games thanks to a goal by Rasheedat Ajibade.

Before Tuesday’s game, the Super Falcons are ahead. Nonetheless, the Nigerians know that more work needs to be done to see results in South Africa. They have one obvious objective ahead of them: get the ticket and escape defeat in Pretoria.

Both teams have faced off multiple times since their 7-1 victory against South Africa in a Johannesburg World Cup qualifier in 1995. In their twenty-four meetings, Nigeria has won fifteen, five have resulted in draws, and South Africa has won four.
However, the South Africans are not to be taken lightly and are predicted to start the game with a bang. To demonstrate how fierce a confrontation the game may be,

The lone win Nigeria has had over the Banyana Banyana in the last six years came against them in the first leg of the qualifiers. Even though Nigeria has never lost against South Africa on the road, the Super Falcons had dropped their previous two meetings with them before that game (in South Africa).

Team News
Nigeria has no injury worries heading into the match. Star forward Asisat Oshoala is primed to make the starting lineup in the second-leg fixture. She was an unused substitute in the reverse fixture in Abuja. But in South Africa, she is expected to lead the lines for Nigeria.
