Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal claims his administration has improved governance processes ahead of May 29, which marks his first year in office.
Lawal gave a speech on Monday at the Government House in Gusau while presiding over the state’s Executive Council meeting.
According to a statement from the governor’s spokeswoman, Sulaiman Bala Idris, “We have done well so far, by changing the narrative of what the governance is and what the system should be,” Lawal told the Council.
“We are putting our people’s interests first and redefining what government means by reforming and restructuring institutions and business practices,” declared Lawal.
“We’re making progress, but it hasn’t been easy.”We will keep pushing for important changes that will improve the effectiveness of the government and increase its relevance to the people.
“As our first year in office approaches on May 28, 2024, we must assess our accomplishments, the extent to which we have fulfilled our mandate from the state’s citizens, and the necessary actions to enhance our performance and deliver the benefits of democracy, as we pledged during our election campaigns.”
According to the statement, the Governor cautioned the Council to act as a team rather than as individuals, reminding them of the difficult challenges in the administration’s rescue effort.
