Tinubu Appoints Ambassador Mohammed as New DIA DG, Names Adeola Ajayi DG of DSS

The nomination of new directors general for the Department of State Services (DSS) and the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) has been authorized by President Bola Tinubu.

The new director-general of the DSS is Mr. Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi. In contrast, the new director-general of the NIA is Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed, according to a statement released on Monday by the presidential spokeswoman, Ajuri Ngelale.

He said that the resignations of the previous heads of the DSS and NIA led to the new appointments.

President Tinubu expects the newly appointed security chiefs to work tirelessly to realign the two intelligence agencies for improved outcomes. He also gives them the task of applying their experience to address the nation’s security challenges by collaborating more closely with sister agencies and operating in perfect harmony with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).
 

The President wished the departing Directors-General of the two crucial intelligence organizations luck in their future undertakings and thanked them for their services to the country.
 

Ahmed Rufai Abubakar, the former National Intelligence Agency (NIA) director-general, handed in his resignation letter to President Bola Tinubu on Saturday at the State House in Abuja.
After meeting with President Tinubu, Abubakar submitted his resignation, citing grounds related to his personal and family life.

previous President Muhammadu Buhari initially named the previous head of the NIA in 2018, and he continued to hold the position till December 2021.
 

Since entering the NIA in 1995, Ambassador Mohammed has enjoyed a distinguished career in the foreign service. After serving in a variety of capacities, he was elevated to the position of Director and appointed as the leader of the Nigerian mission in Libya.
 

The 1990 Bayero University of Kano graduate had worked in the State House in Abuja, North Korea, Pakistan, and Sudan.
