Chief Dan Orbih, the suspended national vice chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for South-South, has pledged his support for Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress.

Chief Orbih made the statement at the first anniversary of Bee TV, an internet television station in which Governor Okpebholo was the guest of honour.

Addressing the governor, Orbih stated, “You have started nicely. Our wish for you is to finish well. You’ve been governor of the state for more than three weeks, and you’re doing a good job for the Edo people.

“For more over four years, I refused to attend any ceremony of this type, but now that you are Governor of Edo State, I have seen something new. I would connect with you since you have good intentions for the people of Edo.
Orbih praised the governor for bringing the rewards of democracy to the state’s people via real government during his first month in office.

The PDP National Working Committee dismissed Dan Orbih after accused him of obstructing the party’s operations in Edo State.

The PDP Edo State Chapter has been embroiled in internal issues since the governorship primary election on February 22, 2024, when Asue Ighodalo was beaten by Okpebholo and became the party’s gubernatorial candidate.

Orbih, together with other unsatisfied party members, allegedly spearheaded the effort to take the party to court.

In a statement announcing his suspension, PDP National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba stated that Orbih’s conduct and words involving the state governorship primary election were inconsistent with the party’s constitution.

The NWC has subsequently formed a six-member committee, chaired by Deputy National Chairman (South), Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, to probe Orbih’s actions.
