Ademola Lookman of the Super Eagles has received congratulations from President Bola Tinubu on his victory as the 2024 CAF Men’s African Footballer of the Year.
He also praised the Super Falcons for winning the Women’s National Team of the Year title and Super Falcons goalie Chiamaka Nnadozie for winning the CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year honor.
At the Palais des Congrès in Marrakech, Morocco, the prizes were presented on Monday evening.
President Tinubu joined millions of Nigerians in applauding the athletes, according to a statement released late Monday night by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga. He called them deserving ambassadors for displaying their skill and honoring the nation on the continental and international scene.
According to him, their self-assurance, discipline, and tenacity demonstrate the administration’s commitment to creating a better Nigeria where everyone can prosper.
Nigerian spirit is embodied by these athletes. They serve as a beacon for the best of our country. Nobody should ever write us off. Of them, I am immensely proud.
“We appreciate you keeping our flag flying and making Nigeria proud.
“I appreciate you representing Nigeria with medals both domestically and overseas. “In the future, you will win more,” the President declared.
