Governor Malam Dikko Radda, PhD, CON, of Katsina state, on Monday 23rd December, 2024 launched the distribution of Multi Billion Naira Agricultural mechanization equipment. This is a critical step to revamp Agricultural activities in Katsina. A move that has been welcomed by farmers and agricultural stakeholders in the state.
This initiative aims to modernize agriculture, increase productivity, and improve the livelihoods of farmers not only in the state but the country at large . Katsina is one of the major producers of farm produce in the county that supplies foodstuffs to both local consumers and industries alike.
One of the key outlines of Governor Radda’s “Building your future Agenda” is the transformation of the Agricultural sector.
The distribution of these equipment marks a significant milestone in Katsina state government’s efforts to transform the agricultural sector and promote food security.
On Monday Governor Radda launched the distribution of 4,000 power Tillers, 4,000 Solar Powered water pumps and 48,000 bags of Fertilizer. The power Tillers are essential for plowing fields, .
By Mechanising Agriculture in the state, the Governor is enabling farmers to increase their efficiency and productivity, leading to higher yields and incomes for economic growth.
With these developments a farmer who previously relied on manual labor or animal-drawn plows can now cover more land in less time with a power Tiller.
By providing irrigation farmers with Solar Powered water pumps equipment, Governor Radda is helping them to mitigate the effects of hike in fuel prices which grossly affects their irrigation activities.
Another important aspect of the event is the distribution of 48,000 bags of fertilizer to the irrigation across irrigation communities in the state.This, in turn, leads to higher crop yields and better returns on investment for farmers.
Additionally, Governor Radda’s agricultural mechanization initiative includes establishing Agric mechanisation centers in each of the 34 Local Government Areas of the state. Where farmers can have access to tractors, power Tillers, combined harvesters, etc
Also in this initiative is the availability of spare parts for the equipment, repairs, and technical support, ensuring that the equipment remains operational and efficient through maintenance workshops.
Furthermore in his efforts to revamp the Agric Sector, Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda revived Agric extension Services. This program aims to educate farmers on modern farming techniques and best practices. By equipping farmers with the knowledge and skills needed to maximize the profit.
