Mojisola Meranda, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, is now presiding over the plenary session.
The meeting is being held even though the Department of State Services authorities invaded the Speaker’s chamber and office, which were sealed earlier Monday morning.
The DSS personnel who were subsequently seen inside the chamber were involved in a physical altercation with legislative workers near the chamber’s exit door.
The politicians had forced their way into the chamber around 12:30 p.m., with the assembly staff rallying behind them.
According to PUNCH Online, the workers later overwhelmed DSS personnel at the door.
Currently, the sitting is taking place amid uncertainty.
The assembly’s dilemma worsens as a leadership battle erupts between ousted Speaker Mudashiru Obasa and Meranda.
According to PUNCH Online, the plenary slated for Monday morning is yet to begin as security agents have taken over the assembly facility.
Our correspondent claims that at least ten police vans are stationed outside the assembly gate.
