Sokoto Governor Calls on Scholars to Preach Peace

Sokoto State Governor, Dr. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, has urged respected Islamic scholars in the state and across the country to continue promoting peace to foster unity and build an equitable Nigerian society.

He stated, “This is a crucial aspect that was neglected by the previous administration, and we have chosen to prioritize it with passion.”

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting religious leaders, enhancing Islamic education, and ensuring that faith remains central to governance.

Governor Sokoto Rolls Out Empowerment Initiatives for Scholars and Farmers.

Speaking over the weekend while unveiling new empowerment and social intervention programs, Governor Sokoto emphasized the need for prayers and guidance from scholars (Malaman Zaure) for national stability. The initiative includes distributing financial aid and essential supplies to scholars and farmers across 91 communities.

“In this sacred month of Ramadan, we are once again providing cash and food assistance to our esteemed scholars,” the governor said, describing the period as one of mercy, reflection, and generosity.

Sokoto Introduces Monthly Allowance for Religious Leaders

The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to strengthening Islamic knowledge and supporting Malaman Zaure, who play a crucial role in guiding society toward righteousness.

To further recognize their contributions, the government has introduced a monthly allowance for Imams, their deputies, and Muazzims, acknowledging their vital role in leading religious congregations and fostering moral values.
