-

The Katsina State Committee on the Revival and Promotion of Historical Sites and Cultural Heritage has called on citizens and relevant stakeholders to submit recommendations aimed at enhancing the preservation of historical landmarks and improving the organization of traditional Sallah Durbar festivals across the state.

The committee, chaired by the Waziri of Katsina, Senator Ibrahim M. Ida, Ph.D., CON, was established with the approval of the Executive Governor of Katsina State, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, Ph.D., CON. The initiative forms a strategic part of the state government’s broader vision to protect its cultural assets and promote the enduring traditions of its emirates.

In an official statement issued by the committee’s secretary, Malam Sani Rabiu Jibia, members of the public have been invited to submit written memoranda, proposals, or suggestions that can contribute to the committee’s work. Submissions can be made electronically via email to ktsgheritage@gmail.com, or delivered in person to VIP No. 3, adjacent to the Katsina State Water Board, GRA, Katsina.

The committee stressed that public participation is essential in shaping a forward-looking, inclusive, and sustainable cultural development strategy. It also encouraged individuals, community leaders, scholars, civil society organizations, and cultural practitioners to contribute ideas that will support the restoration of heritage sites and the modernization of Sallah Durbar festivities without compromising their historical and traditional value.

“We are committed to developing innovative, community-informed solutions that will preserve the cultural identity of Katsina State while positioning it as a hub for cultural tourism and heritage appreciation,” the statement noted.

Submissions are currently being accepted, and the committee has assured the public that all contributions will be reviewed and considered as part of a comprehensive plan to reinvigorate Katsina’s historical and cultural landscape.
