Rodrigo Expresses Desire to Return to Spain as His Manchester City Contract Nears Expiry.
Manchester City midfielder Rodrigo Hernández has revealed he is considering a return to Spain as he approaches the final year of his contract with the English club.
Rodri, 29, who was born in Madrid, said he cannot rule out offers from top clubs around the world, adding that a move back to La Liga is among his future ambitions.
In an interview with Onda Cero, the midfielder stated, “I have one year left on my contract, and in the future we will sit down to make a decision. I would like to play again in Spain, especially in Madrid.”
Rodri began his senior career at Villarreal CF before moving to Atlético Madrid in 2018. He later joined Manchester City in 2019, where he has become a key figure in the squad.
Since then, he has helped City win major trophies, including the UEFA Champions League and multiple English Premier League titles under manager Pep Guardiola.
Reports suggest his comments could attract interest from Real Madrid CF, although there has been no official confirmation of a potential transfer so far.
Manchester City are expected to begin discussions with the player regarding his future before his contract expires.
