Seven Players from Katsina Football Academy Travel to Portugal for “Iber Estoril Lisbon 2026” Tournament.
Seven football players from Katsina State’s Katsina Football Academy have departed Nigeria for Portugal to participate in the prestigious IBER Estoril Lisbon 2026 talent development tournament.
The players include Muhammad Hussain, Mannir Abdullahi, Ibrahim Abdu Haro, Nura S. Nura, Muhammad Muktar Katuka, Isah Usman Ali, and Abubakar Anas.
They departed from Murtala Muhammed International Airport to Lisbon with hopes of advancing their careers and becoming professional footballers abroad.
This development follows a partnership between the academy and Moonluck FA Lagos, aimed at providing talented young players with opportunities to achieve their dreams of becoming professional footballers.
The Katsina State Commissioner for Sports, Engr. Surajo Yazid Abukur, and the Director of Sports at Moonluck FA, Datti Yusuf Umar, signed the collaboration agreement to promote youth development in sports.
The tournament is expected to kick off on March 31, 2026, with top European clubs such as AS Roma, Manchester City, Juventus, FC Porto, Benfica, and Blackburn Rovers set to participate.
The academy’s director, Shamsuddeen Ibrahim, bid farewell to the players and urged them to be good ambassadors of Katsina State.
