Seven alleged fraudsters were apprehended by combined security forces in the villages of Kankare and Zurkuda in Jigawa State’s Birnin Kudu LGA.
SP. Lawan Shiisu, spokesman for the Jigawa State Police Command, confirmed the news in a statement issued on Saturday.
He stated that the individuals were apprehended in a coordinated operation on June 13, 2025, at around 1100 hrs in response to reliable intelligence information.
According to the press release: “The coordinated operation carried out by joint security operatives comprising police, army, civil defence, DSS, and vigilantes led to the arrest of seven suspected fraudsters in Kankare and Zurkuda villages of Birnin Kudu Local Government Area.”
The individuals are thought to be involved in a variety of fraudulent operations across the region.
The items found include 461 counterfeit USD, 4 POS, 13 cellphones, 29 keypads, two license plate numbers, a box, and other paperwork.
Shiisu stated that the suspects are now in police custody and are being preliminarily investigated.
The Command advised the people to be watchful and report any suspicious activities to security services in order to help with continuing efforts to battle crime and protect communities.
