The Katsina State Safety and Road Traffic Authority (KASSAROTA) has received a report from leaders of transport unions across the state, outlining recommendations on curbing overloading and the practice of conveying both humans and animals in the same vehicle.
The report followed a stakeholders’ meeting convened by KASSAROTA on the directive of Governor Dikko Umar Radda to address rising safety concerns in the transport sector.
Receiving the document, KASSAROTA Director-General, Retired Major Garba Yahaya Rimi, commended the unions for their cooperation and assured that their recommendations would be harmonized with inputs from relevant agencies before submission to the governor for necessary action.
The State Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Alhaji Musa Garba, said the unions have already begun enforcing internal measures against overloading and pledged continued collaboration with KASSAROTA to promote safer transport practices across the state.
