A High Court in Abuja has ordered the arrest of former Minister of Special Duties, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, after he failed to appear for a court hearing in a case against him.
The order was issued on Thursday by Justice Peter Kekemeke, who stated that the defendant must be compelled to appear before the court.
Turaki is accused of providing false information to the police in 2022, an offence that could attract penalties if he is found guilty.
The court noted that despite being duly informed of the hearing date, he neither appeared nor provided a satisfactory explanation for his absence.
As a result, the court directed that he be arrested and brought before it to continue the trial.
The development comes at a time when the PDP is facing internal crises related to leadership issues in some parts of the party.
