The wife of the Katsina State Governor, Hajiya Zulaihat Dikko Radda has flagged off this year’s Integrated Polio, Measles, Rubella and HPV Vaccination Campaign in Katsina.
The campaign which was aimed to immunize children against these diseases, kicked off with a ceremony held at Ibrahim Idah primary school in the Katsina metropolis.
In her address, Hajiya Zulaihat reassured the public that the vaccines are safe, effective, and free.
She called on parents to take their children for vaccination between October sixth and sixteenth and encouraged them to spread the word to their neighbors.
Earlier, the Executive Secretary of the State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Shamsuddeen Yahya disclosed that the campaign was aimed at reaching over four point eight million children across the State.
He explained that series of activities, including training, sensitization, and engagement of religious and traditional leaders, had been conducted to achieve the campaign’s success.
Dr. Yahaya appreciated the state Governor for prioritizing primary healthcare in the state.
The Commissioner for Health, Alhaji Musa Adamu Funtua, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Ahmad Tijjani Hamza delivered a keynote address on the statistical data of the diseases and the significance of the vaccines.
He urged all stakeholders to support the campaign and ensure that no child is left behind.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of various development partners, including wives of the deputy governor, speaker state house of assembly, that of chairman of thirty four Local Government Areas, the Magajin Garin Katsina, Alhaji Abdu Iliyasu and other prominent individuals.
