Bandit’s Killed Imam, Steal Cattle in Faskari Attack

Gunmen have killed the Friday Prayer Imam of Unguwar Maje community in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State, Malam Nura Liman, during an attack on the community.

The incident occurred on Saturday, August 29, 2026, when the armed men reportedly stormed the community and attacked residents.

According to residents, the attackers arrived at about 3:00 p.m. and began their operation, causing panic among members of the community.

Malam Nura Liman, who served as the Imam of the Friday mosque in Unguwar Maje, was reportedly shot by the gunmen during the attack.

Residents confirmed that the cleric sustained gunshot wounds and later died as a result of the injuries he suffered.

The attackers were also said to have rustled cattle belonging to some residents of the community during the operation.

After carrying out the attack and taking away the cattle, the gunmen reportedly fled the area before security operatives could arrive.

The incident has left residents of Unguwar Maje and surrounding communities deeply worried, with fears over the continued activities of armed bandits in the area.

Residents said the death of the Imam has further heightened concerns about the safety of people living in the community.

The funeral prayer for Malam Nura Liman was conducted on Saturday evening, according to residents of the area.

The latest attack adds to the growing security concerns in parts of Faskari Local Government Area, where communities have continued to face threats from armed bandits.

Residents are calling for increased security measures to protect lives and property and prevent further attacks on communities in the area.
