Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, PhD, CON, has launched the distribution of scholarships and merit awards for the 2024/2025 academic session, reaffirming education as a cornerstone for the state’s future.
The ceremony took place at the Katsina State Scholarship Board complex in Katsina metropolis, under the administration’s Building Your Future agenda, which prioritises equity and merit in access to education.
The programme covers students from all 34 local government areas of the state, spanning primary, secondary and tertiary levels, while also recognising individuals who have excelled in academics and community service.
Speaking at the event, Governor Radda said that despite financial pressures, his administration would continue to prioritise student support to ease the burden on families and build a productive, enlightened society.
Chairperson of the Scholarship Board, Hajiya Mairo Muhammad, said the timely disbursement of the scholarships reflected the government’s commitment to transparency and fairness. The Executive Secretary, Aminu Salisu Tsauri, added that modern verification systems had been adopted to ensure credibility among beneficiaries.
The governor also inaugurated a new office complex for the board and presented merit awards to outstanding indigenes who have contributed to the development of education in Katsina State.
