Dikko Raɗɗa Khadimul Tauhid the First: 20 Years After, How the Governor Offers a Helping Hand to New Islamic Converts
By Usman Salisu Gurbin Mikiya
Since his assumption of office as the leader of Katsina State, Malam Dikko Umaru Raɗɗa, PhD, CON, FNAH, has made significant efforts to develop all sectors of human endeavor, and religion is not an exception.
Malam Dikko Umaru Raɗɗa is not just a leader who wants to occupy a seat or be addressed as “His Excellency,” but rather a strategic thinker who means well for the state and is always determined to build a strong and solid foundation for its future.
Over the last 20 years, new Islamic converts were not given any form of support or assistance, even though they did not convert to Islam for financial gain, but for spiritual reasons.
In his magnanimous effort to enhance the propagation of Islam, Governor Dikko Umaru Raɗɗa has identified communities where people have converted to Islam and provided them with financial assistance and other valuable materials.
The Islamic Education Bureau, in late 2025 and early 2026, through the directive of Malam Dikko Umaru Raɗɗa, has been actively identifying such communities and assisting them across the three zones of the state.
Each of the converts was given 350,000, along with prayer mats, kettles, and Islamic books.
These supports were also extended to their teachers who are instructing them in Islamic studies.
I recall when the Islamic Education Bureau visited Sandamu Local Government Area, some of the converts were shedding tears of joy, stating that they had never received such assistance from the government.
Some of them narrated how they parted ways with their parents and relatives because of their conversion to Islam.
Additionally, some Tsangaya and Islamiyya schools were not left behind, as similar gestures were extended to them to improve the quality of education.
Improving Islamic education and other related activities is one of the priorities of his administration, as attention has been given to them, including the payment of stipends to Imams and Mu’azzins in Juma’at mosques across the state.
In Katsina State, we are truly blessed to have a Khadimul Tauhid who desires development across all sectors.
