The Nigeria national football team, the Super Eagles, defeated Iran 2–1 in a friendly match played on Friday.
The match took place at the Mardan Sport Complex in Turkey, where both teams tested their strength ahead of upcoming competitions.
Moses Simon opened the scoring for Nigeria in the 6th minute.
After the halftime break, Akor Adams doubled Nigeria’s lead in the 51st minute.
Iran pulled one back through Mehdi Taremi, who scored his team’s only goal of the match.
Samuel Chukwueze and Ademola Lookman provided the assists for Nigeria’s goals.
However, star striker Victor Osimhen did not feature in the match due to a hand injury he sustained while playing for Galatasaray.
The victory is part of Nigeria’s preparations to test new players and tactics ahead of major upcoming competitions.
