YOWICAN Holds Interfaith Security Summit in Katsina, Calls for Collective Action Against Insecurity

The Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN), Katsina State Chapter, has organised an interfaith security summit aimed at strengthening collaboration among religious communities and finding lasting solutions to insecurity in the state.

The summit, tagged “Interfaith Security Summit,” was held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at the Bello Kofar Bai Conference Hall, Katsina State Secretariat.

The event brought together stakeholders from the Muslim and Christian communities to discuss the growing security challenges in the state and the role religious leaders and communities can play in promoting peace and protecting lives and property.

Speaking at the summit, the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Katsina State, Dr. Daniel Danladi, said insecurity affects everyone regardless of religious affiliation.

He said both Muslims and Christians are victims of security challenges, particularly kidnapping for ransom.

“Anyone affected by insecurity, whether a Muslim or a Christian, can be kidnapped for ransom,” Danladi said.

On his part, the Katsina State Chairman of YOWICAN, Praise Ilemona Isaiah, said the summit was organised to provide a platform for people of different faiths to come together and seek practical solutions to insecurity.

Isaiah said the organisation received the support of various stakeholders in organising the summit and would continue to raise public awareness about the importance of reporting suspicious activities that could threaten peace and security.

He urged members of the public to promptly report any suspicious activities or information that could pose a threat to peace and security to security agencies and relevant authorities.

The YOWICAN chairman also commended the Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umar Radda, for his efforts and contributions towards improving security and promoting peace across the state.
