Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has launched a new round of business management training for more than 300 youths under the North-West Development Programme, implemented in partnership with the Katsina State Enterprise Development Agency (KASEDA) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
The programme was officially inaugurated on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, in Batsari Local Government Area, where the training was facilitated by Dr. Sabitu Abdulmalik of the Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA).
Beneficiaries of the programme were selected from five local government areas: Batsari, Charanchi, Malumfashi, Matazu, and Faskari. Upon completing the training, participants will receive financial support to expand their businesses. Some beneficiaries will receive ₦320,000 alongside free registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), while others will receive ₦150,000 through KASEDA in collaboration with UNDP.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Director-General of KASEDA, Dr. Babangida Kabir Ruma, welcomed the participants and reminded them that the training would last only two days. He expressed appreciation to community leaders and stakeholders in Batsari for their support in ensuring the successful and peaceful implementation of the programme.
Dr. Ruma explained that the initiative is part of a broader North-West Development Programme jointly implemented by the Katsina State Government and UNDP to support communities affected by insecurity.
According to him, the programme was brought to Katsina through the commitment and efforts of Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, ensuring that vulnerable communities benefit from economic empowerment initiatives.
He recalled that the programme was first implemented in 2024 across eight local government areas—Jibia, Batsari, Safana, Danmusa, Kankara, Faskari, Sabuwa, and Dandume—where it recorded remarkable success and received positive feedback from beneficiaries.
He added that reports highlighting the programme’s achievements were submitted to UNDP, leading to the approval of its expansion to additional local government areas.
Dr. Ruma further disclosed that the new phase covers Batsari, Charanchi, Malumfashi, Matazu, and Faskari, noting that implementation had already been completed in Charanchi and Batsari before moving to the remaining local government areas.
In his remarks, Governor Dikko Umaru Radda expressed delight that Batsari was once again selected among the benefiting local government areas, describing the programme as a major step toward boosting entrepreneurship and improving livelihoods.
The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the people of Batsari, acknowledging their continued support and loyalty. He urged participants to take the training seriously and apply the knowledge gained to strengthen and expand their businesses.
