NBA Funtua Branch Seeks Amendment Of 2008 Shari’a Court Rules During Courtesy Visit
Grand Kadi Muhammad Kabir, Said Deep and Cordial Relationship Between the Shari’a Court and the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) is the Foundation for Peace and Progress in Society.
The katsina State Grandi Khadi has emphasized the deep and cordial relationship between Shari’a Court and Nigerian Bar Association is the foundation of a peaceful and progressive.
Professor Grand Kadi Muhammad Kabir Abubakar made this known when he received officials of the Nigerian Bar Association, Funtua Branch, in his office.
According to him, the association’s visit provides an avenue to sustain the existing relationship between the Bar and the Bench in their collective efforts toward the dispensation of justice in Katsina State.
Professor Grand Kadi Muhammad Kabir Abubakar described the visit as timely, considering that the association in Katsina State has often shown little regard for the office of the Grand Kadi and the Shari’a Court of Appeal, as reflected in certain attitudes.
He expressed optimism that the visit would pave the way for greater partnership between the Bar and the Bench, noting that the association has always been at the forefront of upholding the principles of justice and fairness, commitment to the rule of law, and the protection of human rights.
The Grand Kadi therefore assured the association of his readiness to make all necessary amendments to the Shari’a Court rules or orders as requested by the Bar.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Funtua Branch, Barrister Ibrahim Korau, said their visit was aimed at strengthening the cordial relationship between the State Shari’a Court and the Bar Association.
Bar Ibrahim korau also emphasized the need to amend the Shari’a Court rules, noting that the last amendment was made in 2008.
