The Katsina State Government has banned the unauthorised covering of vehicle registration number plates by government officials and other individuals in the state.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Director of Press in the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Ibrahim Almu Gafai, and made available to newsmen in Katsina.
The statement noted that the practice poses a serious security risk capable of being exploited by criminal elements for unlawful activities.
It further stated that the State Government has directed the Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, and other road traffic agencies to curb the menace for the overall security and safety of the state.
The Secretary to the Government of the State, Abdullahi Garba Faskari, advised members of the general public to desist from the illegal act to avoid arrest and prosecution.
