However, Ademola Lookman pulled one back to bring Atlético Madrid back into contention, and their 2–0 advantage from the first leg ultimately helped them secure qualification.
The team managed by Diego Simeone held firm in a tense encounter at Metropolitano Stadium to book their place in the semifinals for the first time since 2017.
Barcelona finished the match with 10 men after Eric García was sent off for a foul on Alexander Sørloth.
Atlético Madrid will now face the winner between Arsenal F.C. and Sporting CP in the semifinal.
