A two-day workshop on Primary Eye Care for health personnel has commenced in Daura Senatorial District.
The training, which is scheduled to run for six days as mandated by the Katsina State Government, is currently in its fifth day. It took place in Mani Local Government Area on 1st August 2025.
A total of 361 primary healthcare workers were trained on primary eye care, with participants carefully selected ward by ward from across the state. This ward-level selection ensured broad representation, bringing the total number of participants to 361 Across the state.
Speaking during the event, the State Eye Health Desk Officer, Isah Muhammad Mai’adua, who is coordinating the training explained that the training first commenced in the Funtua Zone, followed by Katsina Zone while the session for the Daura Zone took place in Mani and Daura Towns on Thursday, 31st July and 1st August 2025.
In their separate remarks, the resource persons enlightened the participants on the importance of adhering to healthcare service guidelines, emphasizing that the program aligns with the healthcare agenda of the current administration under Governor Dikko Umaru Radda.
Earlier, the participants expressed their gratitude to the Katsina State Ministry of Health for organizing the training, pledging their commitment to better serve the people of the state, particularly at the primary healthcare level,to boost Eye Health Care at the grassroots
The training was supervised by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Ahmed Tijjani Hamza, alongside the Director of Public Health, Dr. Mu’awuya Aliu, and the Director of Planning at SPHCA, Dr. Ibrahim Nalado, among others.
