The Katsina State Police Command has foiled a kidnapping attempt and rescued an 18-year-old girl in Danmusa Local Government Area following a swift response by security operatives.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the incident occurred on Tuesday night when suspected armed bandits stormed Kukoki Quarters in Danmusa town and abducted one Aisha Kabir, aged 18.
The statement explained that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Danmusa received a distress report at about 11:53 p.m. on May 13, 2026, and immediately mobilised an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) tactical patrol team to trail the suspects.
Police operatives reportedly engaged the hoodlums in a gun duel and successfully overpowered them, forcing the bandits to abandon the victim and flee the area with suspected gunshot injuries.
The rescued victim was taken to a nearby hospital for medical evaluation before being safely reunited with her family.
The Command disclosed that bush combing operations are ongoing to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects.
Commissioner of Police, Ali Umar Fage, commended the swift response of officers involved in the operation and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.
The Police also urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to support ongoing security operations.
Further developments on the incident are expected to be communicated by the Command in due course.
