Kerosene Price Rises to N4,000 Per Litre in Parts of Nigeria

Reports from several parts of Nigeria indicate that the price of kerosene continues to rise sharply, with some areas now selling the product for as much as N4,000 per litre.

The latest increase has placed many citizens under serious hardship, especially families who rely on kerosene for cooking and other daily household activities. Residents in different communities said the price changes almost daily due to fuel supply challenges and high transportation costs.

Kerosene dealers attributed the rising cost to scarcity of petroleum products, the increase in the exchange rate of the dollar, and the current economic difficulties facing the country. Some marketers also explained that the high cost of transporting fuel from depots to various states has further contributed to the price hike.

A resident of Kano State stated:
“We used to buy a litre for less than N2,000, but now there are places where it is being sold for between N3,500 and N4,000.”

Economic experts have warned that unless urgent measures are taken, the continuous increase in fuel prices will further worsen the living conditions of Nigerians.

There have previously been reports of rising kerosene prices across different parts of the country, with analysts linking the increases to economic challenges and fluctuations in petroleum prices.

However, the Federal Government has not yet issued any direct statement regarding reports of kerosene being sold for N4,000 per litre.

Meanwhile, many Nigerians continue to express concern and are calling on the government and relevant authorities to provide an urgent solution to the situation.
