Argungu Emir Calls for Community Action as Bandit Attacks Continue in Kebbi

Emir Of Argungu

The Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Sama’ila Mohammadu Mera, has called on communities affected by bandit attacks to unite and take proactive steps to protect their lives and property.

The traditional ruler stated that the security situation continues to create fear among residents, particularly in rural areas that frequently suffer from bandit attacks, cattle rustling, and kidnappings for ransom.

According to a report gathered by Nigerian Post, the Emir said the time has come for communities to take responsibility for their own protection by contributing funds to acquire security equipment that would help safeguard their towns and villages from criminal elements.

He stressed that it is unacceptable for residents to continue watching helplessly as criminals invade their communities, abduct women and children, and terrorize innocent people without any effort to defend themselves.

The Emir further emphasized that every community should come together to raise funds and purchase firearms for self-defense. He said communities should not remain passive while criminals enter their villages and take away their wives and children.

He also highlighted the importance of cooperation between community leaders, youths, and security agencies in developing effective strategies to tackle the growing insecurity affecting many parts of the region.

The Emir urged residents to remain vigilant and provide intelligence to security agencies whenever they observe suspicious movements, noting that security is everyone’s responsibility and that only collective action can bring an end to the challenges posed by insecurity.
