The Katsina State Government has reiterated its commitment to supporting youth development and empowerment across the state, as the Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN), Katsina State Chapter, launched the second phase of its 600 Youth Empowerment Programme.
The event, held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Bello Kofar Bai Conference Hall, Katsina State Secretariat, featured grants and scholarships for 600 beneficiaries, including 300 entrepreneurs, 100 farmers, 100 students, and 100 widows and orphans.
Representing the Governor, Special Adviser on Youth Affairs, Alhaji Abubakar Ahmed Tsanni, said the administration of Governor Dikko Umar Radda, PhD, remains strongly devoted to youth welfare and empowerment initiatives.
“Governor Radda’s government is fully committed to anything that promotes youth empowerment and development. The administration has supported almost 80 percent of youth organizations across the state,” Tsanni stated, urging beneficiaries to make good use of their startup kits and avoid selling them.
Earlier, the YOWICAN Chairman, Praise Isaiah Illomona, said the empowerment drive was designed to tackle unemployment and insecurity by equipping young people with practical skills.
“We are putting in our best efforts, using knowledge and determination, and by God’s grace, we’re moving forward. Supporting the less privileged is essential to building a safer and more productive society,” Illomona said.
He noted that almost more than 200 youths have already received training in ICT, solar installation, tailoring, and aluminum fabrication, expressing gratitude to the Hajiya Hauwa Dikko Umar Radda Mu’assasatul Khairiyya Foundation for donating ₦250,000 to sustain YOWICAN’s empowerment activities.
Also speaking, the CAN Secretary, Dr. Musa Daniel Danladi, commended the state government’s continuous partnership with youth and faith-based organizations, urging the beneficiaries to extend their knowledge and skills to other young people within their communities.
The well-attended event attracted government officials, community leaders, and youth representatives — marking another milestone in the shared effort to create jobs and strengthen youth engagement in Katsina State.
